Waikīkī is a neighborhood of Honolulu, in the City & County of Honolulu, on the south shore of the island of O’ahu, Hawaii. Waikīkī Beach is the shoreline fronting Waikīkī.
The Crossroads of the Pacific
On the corner of Kalākaua and Kapi’olani streets, which is only two blocks east of our home, was a restaurant named Kau-Kau Korner. Currently Hard Rock Cafe is on that corner, but they are moving to a new building about a half mile west. This diner featured a famous sign that emphasized the centralization of Hawaii to the rest of the world by depicting the distances to locations around the world.
