Fisk, Bartlett, Baldwin & Gregory Reunion

Reunion

Twenty four year old James Jacob Gregory, son of Edward Gregory, left his Irish hometown of Crossmaglen and arrived in Chicago aboard the ship City of Berlin on May 4, 1889. It is a little curious as to why Mr. Gregory picked the day of the Gaelic New Year (commonly known as Halloween) in 1892 to renounce his allegiance to the Queen of England by applying for U. S. citizenship. Since he also applied for a marriage license to Winifred Dufficy, it was probably just a coincidence. This was the start of a long line of the Gregory family that continued with his daughter, Winifred, who married Peter Daley and their four daughters.

On October 4, 2009, representatives of the families of three of these daughters gathered together to share family stories and artifacts in the southwest side of Chicago. Among the many wonderful items were several cabinet photos of their Irish ancestors as well as of their original Chicago inhabitants.
